AI Share of Voice. One number for how AI talks about you.

When a customer asks AI for a recommendation, it names a few businesses. AI Share of Voice is how often one of them is you.

AI Share of Voice is the share of AI answers, across the questions your customers ask, that name your business, compared with your competitors.

Measured weekly across ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini on every plan, asked from your market and compared against the competitors you choose. Larger plans add Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Grok.

How we measure it.

  1. Pick the questions

The questions your customers actually ask, with your city. We suggest them; you decide.

  2. Ask every engine

Each question goes to every engine every week, phrased the way a customer would.

  3. Read each answer

Are you named? In what position? With a link to your site? Who is named instead?

  4. Count and compare

Your mentions are counted against each competitor's, and every answer is saved so you can see how you were named.

Not every mention is worth the same.

Being named is the start. A link to your site beats a recommendation, and a recommendation beats a passing mention. That is the Citation Ladder. We save every answer with your position and any link to your site, so you can see which rung you reached.

  1. Cited with a linkThe answer names you and sends the buyer to your site.
    Worth most
  2. Named as a recommendationYou are on the shortlist the buyer reads.
    Worth less
  3. MentionedYou appear, but nobody is told to pick you.
    Worth least

Why one number.

  • 1

    It matches how buyers decide

One question, one answer, a few names. Being on that shortlist is the result that matters.

  • 2

It moves when you fix something

Ship a fix, and the questions it touches show it within days, on the same chart.

  • 3

    It opens to the evidence

Every point on the chart opens to the saved answers and sources behind it.

Questions

How is AI Share of Voice different from a ranking?

A ranking tells you where your page sits in a list of links. AI Share of Voice tells you how often the answer itself names you, across the questions your customers ask. Each saved answer also shows how you were named.

Which questions are counted?

The questions you track. We suggest a starting set for your industry and city, and you can add, remove or rewrite any of them.

Who am I compared against?

The competitors you choose. Every competitor is scored on the same questions, the same engines and the same days as you.

How often is it updated?

Every week. Each question is asked again on a weekly cycle, so the trend shows real movement, not a one-off answer.

Why is a link worth more?

A link sends the buyer to your site. Being named on a shortlist is useful, and a passing mention is the weakest signal. The Citation Ladder reflects that.
